Description: Read & Write is a literacy toolbar that offers multiple tools to help with reading text out loud, understanding unfamiliar words, researching assignments, and proofing written work.  In WSD, Read & Write is used primarily with students in special education classrooms, but it is designed for all students, including English-language learners and even university students. In this session, we will quickly describe the main reading and writing tools, then describe how we used them in a junior high special education classroom, as well as how to generalize the use of these tools in the general education classroom. We will also share our classroom data describing the benefits of Read and Write. You don’t want to miss this session!
